What is a ‘litter less lunch’?

A

A litter less lunch is comprised of reusable containers as opposed to single use, disposable plastic, and sugar laden convenience foods. Our goal is to help our families learn to be environmentally conscious and become stewards of the earth

Do you accept children who are not potty trained?

A

We are happy to include children who are not yet potty trained and our educators will work with parents to accomplish training when the child is ready 😊

Am I able to put my child on a waitlist?

A

We do keep waitlists for our programs and are happy to add children- as spaces do open up occasionally.

Can we be flexible with my child’s schedule?

A

We require the children to attend the same days each week- as the space has to be held, whether the child attends or not. If you choose to have a home day, payment is still required.

Do parents pay for vacation time?

A

Our centre is closed between Christmas and New Years and also for 2 weeks during the summer. Christmas and New Years Day require payment if they are days your child attends. Payment is not required for the other days during vacation closure. If you choose to take vacation at another time- payment is required.

What procedures are in place for CoVid 19?

A

We do screening each day of staff and children. Extra sanitization practices are in place and we spend nearly all of our time outside in fresh air! Click link to see our Covid 19 Operational Plan

What are your policies on illness?

A

Public Health requires 24 hour exclusion for vomiting, diarrhea, a temperature over 101(38.5) If a child is too ill to participate in our activities, they should not attend. If a child becomes ill while at our centre, we will call a parent to come pick them up.

Are you open on storm days?

A

We do remain open on storm days, however if RCMP issue a No Travel Advisory because of road conditions, we may close early for the safety of our children and our staff.

Is there a discount for families?

A

If you have multiple children attending our centre- 10% discount will be applied to the second child- if they attend full time.

Do parents pay for Statutory holidays?

A

Stat holidays require payment if it is a day your child would regularly attend.

What are your hours of operation?

A

Our centre is open Monday – Friday from 7 am – 6pm

What age of children are eligible to attend?

A

We take children from 12 months to age 12-from infant to afterschool programs.

What is the cost of the program?

A

Our rates are $45 per day for our infant room (Full time), $38 for 2 yr and up for full day. Afterschool is $16 per day. Minimum attendance is 2 days per week.

FAQ - Tír na nÓg Forest School

How do you pronounce Tír na nÓg ?

A

Tír - as in 'tier' (of a cake), or 'tear' (that you weep) na - as in 'ba-na-na'  nÓg - with a long o , as in 'O Canada'  :)

What if my child isn’t feeling well?

A

Can you warm my child’s lunch if it is cold outside?

A

We suggest lunches be sent preheated in a thermos as we cannot heat lunches for all of the children. In hotter weather, we recommend ice packs be included in your child’s lunch.

Do the children spend all of their time outside?

A

 Children will spend the majority of their time outside. The exception will be if the weather is colder than -20, and hotter than +30. We go out in all kinds of weather, including rain and snow. We do have an indoor classroom for use when focus work is necessary.

Are you closed on storm days?

A

Tír na nÓg Forest School follows the same schedule as the public school system- if public school is closed- then we close also.

What is Forest School?

A

 Forest school is an experiential learning program where children spend the majority of their time outside in nature, learning about their environment, skills and learning to take and manage risks.

FAQ - Apohaqui Elementary Afterschool

Do you do homework with the children?

A

 Time is provided for homework if the children choose to do it. We want this time to be stressful and a release from the class time of the day.

What payment methods are accepted?

A

Payment is made by direct withdrawal from your bank.

What is the cost of the program?

A

The rate is $16 per day that your child is scheduled to attend.

Do you provide snacks for the children?

A

We do not provide snacks, so extra should be packed in the child's lunch for After school

Are you open on Storm days and Holidays?

A

If Apohaqui Elementary School is closed- we are closed

What are your hours?

We are open from 2-6 pm, Monday to Friday
